B E AUT Y • B R I DAL • FA S H I O N Ask Cathy by Cathy Isaacs Dear readers, does your skin need a little help after all that fun in the sun? Now is the perfect time to bright-en, lighten and renew your skin to a beautiful glow before for the winter holidays arrive and all the celebrations begin. Peels are a great way to do just that! I will tell you about three different peels that give you great results and are reasonably priced! 1. Glycolic Peel -Glycolic is de-rived from sugar cane and is a rapid ex-foliator. It is used for helping acne, acne scarring, fine lines, dry flaky skin, uneven pigmentation and age spots. It is espe-cially wonderful for anti-aging. Glycolic can be purchased for home use up to 15 percent and applied daily. For even more results we do professional Glycolic Peels here at the salon at 30 to 40 percent. These peels are done in a series of six, usually once a week. They take just 15 minutes and what a difference 15 minutes can make! 2. Salicylic Peel -Salicylic is de-rived from willow bark, winter green leaves and sweet birch. Salicylic is a strong exfoliator, which increases cellular turn-over and yet is very safe. It is extremely effective on acne and oily skin types as well as helping pigmentation problems, fine lines, acne scarring and dislodging and purging of blackheads. This is a pro-fessional peel of 20 to 30 percent. Again takes only 15 and is done in a series of six, one to two weeks apart. 3. Jessner Peel -The Jessner Peel is 14 percent Salicylic, 14 percent Resorcinal and 14 percent Lactic Acid. This strong peel is designed to remove the outer most layer of the skin and provides all the ben-efits of the above two peels. It is done in layers, we can apply anywhere from one to 10 layers at two minute intervals. We do not remove the peel so it stays on the skin and provides peeling action that is visible to the client, as opposed to the Gly-colic. This peel is also done in a series of six, but must be at least two weeks apart. I have condensed the informa-tion for this article so please know there are other benefits as well as precautions. We are here to discuss and recommend the correct peel for you, and answer any questions you may have. Also please see specials in our ad! We look forward to taking care of all your skin care needs and pampering you soon. To book an appointment today, please call 661-259-6117.
