Random Acts of Kindness Not So Random! by Dani Caouette When it feels like there are too many wicked people in this world, you have to remind yourself, there are many more kind people out there doing nice things. I don’t want to be discouraged when I hear about burglaries and break-ins…I want to think that in general, people want to be good to one another…that good triumphs over evil. My mom, sister and I all have our birthdays close to-gether. This year my sister wanted to share our birthday cel-ebration by doing Random Acts of Kindness. We’re making a list, and spending an entire day doing unexpected nice things for other people. Hopefully those people will do nice things for other people, and acts of kindness will continue to grow all around us. February 17 is National “Random Acts of Kindness” day. This is a favorite day for many people, as it makes both the giver and the receiver feel good! Schools have used this day as an educational event to promote the value of kindness. Organizations use this day to promote their cause and fundraising eff orts. Why not consider doing a few random acts of kindness? There are many things you can do to help brighten someone’s day…Bake cup-cakes for fi refi ghters, pay for the cof-fee behind you in line, or let someone go in front of you. Big or small, any random act of kindness is wonder-ful! Edna’s Salon and Spa is al-ways helping people with one huge act of kindness…donating their hair to Locks of Love! Locks of Love is devoted to helping every child suf-fering from medical hair loss. If you would like to donate your hair, your haircut is free! Plus, you will know your kind donation will change the life of a child in need. Edna is also an animal lov-er… her dog Mathew is a beloved family member, and she feels that people need to help the animals that can’t help themselves. Edna’s Salon is accepting donations for the entire month of February for our local animal shelter and Shelter Hope Pet Shop. If you have any towels, blankets, harnesses, leashes, collars, beds, toys, pet food etc., that you would like to donate to help shelter animals, please bring your donations to Edna’s Salon at 22934 Lyon’s Avenue in Newhall. Your kindness will help many homeless pets! “Caution: What comes around goes around... Random Acts of Kindness is highly contagious!” Edna’s Salon & Spa is located at 22934 Lyon’s Avenue in Newhall.
